Transforming Trauma and Unlocking Intuition: A Spiritual Journey

I was gently reminded this week, that when we have unresolved trauma it can impair our intuition.


LET ME PREFACE this strongly.


Because this is not always true, and everyone is different. This is just a common thing that I notice with many folks. It happens to varying levels, and isn't like an on-off switch, more like a sliding scale.

Anywho.

We know that trauma can pull us into fight-flight-freeze-fawn, and in this state we may not be connecting to our higher dimensional selves. Because we are focused on being in survival mode.

During the Spiritual Mama Retreat this past weekend (which was FUCKING AMAZING, wow. there will be more!) I was guided to channel a 5 hour, deeply healing transformational experience.

Everyone cried, shook, yelled, shared, journalling and afterwards we all felt much lighter and completely at peace. Literally we felt high on life and like we were floating, it was transformational.

What I noticed in the days that followed, is that my intuition became MUCH stronger.

There's a few reasons for this, but one of the main ones is that I also released a tonne of trauma and dense energy whilst facilitating. And it opened up more space for my intuition to come through.

Unhealed trauma takes up space in every layer of our energy body. Mental, emotional, physical, etheric, etc. The more dense our energy body is, the more challenging it can be to receive and root our divine, high vibrational downloads and intuitive messages.

Intuition is a whisper, and if the channel isn't clear it can be hard for us to hear it.

Of course, everyone is different, but this is the case for most.

The thing about intuition is that it's easier to access as you have less distractions. When you have heavy emotional experiences taking up space in your mind, body and soul it can create a barrier in between you and your intuition.

Blocking out intuition serves a purpose. When our awareness is focused on our physical reality moreso than our spiritual reality, we can deal with immediate threats in our physical world better. Sometimes this helps us!

But if we are in this trauma state for longer than a few minutes or hours, it's no bueno. We might feel anxious, on-edge, irritated, flighty, unable to make commitments, making decisions from a place of ego rather than our heart, feeling closed off from our heart center/love and more.

That's why it's super helpful to heal the trauma. I recommend energy healing, therapy, trauma-informed intuitive sessions, emdr, breathwork, hypnosis, somatic experiencing, etc.

What's interesting is that trauma and intuition can also go the opposite direction.

Sometimes people that have unhealed trauma are over-spiritualized and feel as if they are floating around in their spiritual world rather than being balanced and grounded in the physical world. This can be a means of escaping the threats in the physical reality. Detaching and disconnecting from the body.

The challenge here is that when you're disconnected from physical reality, it's harder to take inspired action stemming from intuition. You might be fullll of inspired downloads and ideas, but seem to struggle with following through on them! It's also more difficult to be mindful and fully present in the here and now. It may create a feeling of floating, fogginess or detachment from your body.

Ideally we are feeling safe in our bodies and physical reality and also tuned into our intuition.

During the Spiritual Mama Retreat, as we released trauma through somatic healing, hypnosis, meditation, sharing and journalling… We began deeply healing our emotional bodies and creating safety within ourselves. Especially because we did it as a group, which is an important human need when we are in a disregulated nervous system state.

We heal best with other humans. Which is why you can read all the self-help books, take the courses, do the meditating and crying, and STILL struggle to feel at peace. That's why the work that I do is so healing.. I create a safe space for people to feel held and seen and loved. That's 90% of how I help people. The rest is the details and methods.

Of course, everyone is different, but this is what I see a lot. And oddly enough, the more in tune we are with our intuition, the more easeful our lives can be. So take the steps you need to heal. You never know how it will ripple out into your life!!
